MGR’s movies run in some or other theatre in Tamil Nadu throughout the year. Although it is 26 years since MGR passed away, he remains evergreen. It is indeed surprising to know that late MGR dwells in the hearts of fans abroad.
MGR activists in France have joined together and formed France MGR Peravai (France MGR Federation). Also they have registered it with the government, and they are conducting festival in memory of MGR every year.
This year happens to be the ninth year of the festival. Editor S Vijayan of Idhayakani magazine, actor Rajesh, and Dr S Amudhakumar, who is medical writer and a senate member of Madras University, participated as special guests.
The event was held in Paris, capital of France. Message conveyed by MGR through numbers in movies were highlighted. School children and college students participated.
On the second day, actor Rajesh, Dr Amudhakumar, Idhayakani VIjayan, and students undergoing studies in France made address in French, English and Tamil. Video address by V Ponraj, personal adviser of former President Abdul Kalam, was screened. Lecturers and teachers from France also participated in the festival.
